WORDS THAT TOUCH

yeah. i was at church again today. saying hi to the god almighty. sharing with him about my life. and today's readings were so apt. it's as if it's directed at me somehow.

i guess all of us need some form of spiritual guidance to serve as an anchor, and i've always found this once a week ritual a rather enlightening and uplifting session where my sanity is kept intact and i'm reminded of what is truly important in life. :)

James 4
Submit Yourselves to God
1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?
2 You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.

3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred towards God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely?

6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Yeah, i guess all of us want things that suit our whims and wishes...or rather for our own selfish desires..without knowing any better whether or not it is good for us. Somehow, despite my sinfulness and selfishness, god has always took care of me either from afar or through the closest of friends.

Many people misunderstand what it means to be a christian/catholic, or rather a believer of god, a disciple of jesus.

It is not leading the perfect life where you don't do anything wrong, but rather you have a trusting and loving personal relationship with a special god who is your friend and guardian, someone who holds your hand through this rough journey we call life.

Anyway, i shall leave this with one of my favourite quotes :)

Reinhold Niebuhr
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference"
