in pursue of something

during late night holiday, i was watching some videos that i bought home.

yah i could have watched this during term time, but alas, i was too busy, so this is the only time i can really seek refuge in the silver screen once again.

amazing, two seemingly unrelated movies actually have some common themes. 200 pound beauty and the pursuit of happyness (yes happiness spelt wrongly on purpose).

both stories have in common

- an underdog that made it in the end.

-> compare the ugly duckling overweight yet talented Hanna in 200 pound beauty versus Will Smith's excellent portrayal of Chris Gardner, who is a talented yet a man suffering from great poverty.

- both went through major struggles in order to attain success, or the so-called happiness.

-> Hanna went through a major overhaul of her image, body and size
-> Chris had to endure his wife leaving him, losing his home.

- there is some sense of sadness and honesty and somehow irony that in the pursuit of true happiness, so much sorrow and sacrifice has to be made.

one difference is
- one is a true story, while the other is probably fictional.

it is amazing what moving visuals and drama can inspire one to think beyond the box.

to go beyond the "cannot be done" methods.

will i ever find my happiness in life or have i stopped pursuing it?
